PROBLEM STATEMENT
The general contractor for a data center expansion project was looking for alternatives after finding galvanized steel access platforms difficult to coordinate, long in lead time, expensive to install, and not able to accommodate as-built conditions easily.
TIMELINE
ADVANTIC SCOPE
Advantic engineered the solution to meet project and code requirements, generated PE-stamped design documents and calculations, fabricated the structural system, and performed field installation support to a local trade already working at the job site.
TECHNICAL APPROACH
Advantic utilized fiber-reinforced polymer structural profiles, grating, and edge protection to meet Code and OSHA prescribed strength and serviceability criteria. The product was prefabricated in large sections to support rapid field installation with reduced safety risk.
ECONOMICS
The fabricated cost was less than galvanized steel, and lead times were improved by 50-percent. Total installed cost was improved by more than 20-percent.
